Animals in distress: first aid

First aid

 - Do not touch the animal.
 - Call the fire brigade (in France : 18)
 - The fire brigade will transmit the information to the specialised marine centres.
 - The local centres will take care of the animal before transferring it to authorized centres.


Concerning sea birds

 - Capture the bird very carefully with a deep cloth.
 - Do not feed it because it can suffocate to death
 - Put the sea bird in a well-ventilated box in a safe and calm room.
 - Write on the box: “living sea bird, do not open!”

 

More and more often, some marine animals ground on our coasts. Often alarmed by walkers, the Grand Aquarium intervene quickly on the spot of the rescue, in order to proceed to the animal’s insulation and to health care.
